When my sons play, they do use a lot of imagination. They will pretend they are cooking, driving, doing fun things anywhere. They don’t need a lot of room; they don’t need a lot of toys; they don’t need any luxury; they simply use their mind and their bodies and they can have great fun! When I look at them, I start to wonder what kind of values have been cultivated on us. Why do adults go after big houses, expensive toys, brand names, exotic cars…just to name a few? When we were small, every little thing can make us happy. We did not need a big house to have fun; we did not need expensive cars to take us everywhere; we did not carry brand name handbags. What have we become? What has changed? Are the value being taught to us the right values in life? This really makes me think about raising my kids.
